Stag Works Music Workspace, Sheffield
Feasibility Study and Business Plan to develop a managed workspace for the independent music sector in a former cutlery factory building in Sheffield. The building has a long history of ad-hoc use by musicians, producers and bands for rehearsal and production (Def Leppard, Pulp, Baby Bird, All Seeing I, Artic Monkeys), and the study examined the potential for preserving the listed structure while bringing the building into modern use, specifically for the music sector and the craft and metal trades that also reside there. Securing this privately owned building for the outlined purpose is taking a long time, but the development plan is currently being finalised. Although the initial study was carried out as far back as 2002, ci:p continue to assist the project through advising and supporting the new Little Sheffield Development Trust, incorporated to champion the project.
